QUOTES & COMMENTS BY PARTICIPATING ARTISTS:
“This was a wonderful event and worth attending. I found the information gained by all three professionals very informative and useful for moving forward with my art career.” - Shilo Ratner
“There is no downside to a portfolio review. One gets to sit down with the owner of a respected gallery: priceless. And it was well organized and run, thanks to your efficient self.” - Beverly Mills
“Thank you for running such an incredible service to the Bay Area arts community! I wish my MFA program had offered something as valuable.” - Barry Beach
“Each gallerist was very helpful and encouraging about my artwork and I really appreciate the time they took to meet with me.” - Carla Gelbaum
“Wow, what a great experience! Thank you, Stephen, for providing such a valuable opportunity. The logistics were impressive, too. I definitely will sign up the next time you organize portfolio reviews.” - Roxanna Walker
“The workshops in advance were very good for preparing me since I had no idea what to expect. I think all the gallerists did a good job and it was interesting to meet different kinds of gallerists and hear different perspectives. They all had something different to say! I did receive specific suggestions and will take action on some of them. I can’t think of anything that I would change. Overall very helpful experience.” - Nancy Benton
“The [workshop] info was specific and practical, concise and precise, and generously and respectfully offered. You are very good at this, and I greatly appreciate your commitment to helping other artists' navigate the terrain, and your understanding that the prep up front is almost more important than the actual reviews.” - Margaret Lindsey
“My overall experience was definitely very positive. I left the evening with a very well rounded idea of where my work is, where it could go and who should be selling it. Overall I would not have changed a thing. The input I received was very on point, informative and thoughtful. I had a great time.” - Mikey Kelly
“It was a worthwhile experience and I benefited largely for just sitting down and comfortably speaking with each of them about my work. Knowing I am capable of doing that is reward in itself.” - Dianne Hoffman
“Thank you so much for the great experience. I learn a lot and I’m not as afraid to approach them as before. They were very nice and helpful. Each gave a different advice and options depending on what they think I needed. I would definitely do it again and recommend it.” - Taryn Curiel
“What I especially appreciate was the opportunity to talk with three quite different gallerists with their individual points of view. Talking with three people gave a broader perspective as well as different specifics. I did receive specific suggestions I have already taken action on. I also received more long-term, strategic recommendations that I have continued to think about and plan for.” - Kathleen Eliot
"All feedback was a gift to me. All gallerists were generous in their offerings. All seemed focused on the task at hand - I am blown away by just the experience of sitting in their presence and on top of it, having my art be the focus. Unbelievable!!" - Joyce Savre
“I really appreciated how organized the event was! Each gallerist added something different which was nice.” - Leslie Morgan
“Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. You provide a very valuable resource for artists in this community. The evening was remarkable. It was extremely well organized, and moved at a perfect pace. I have no criticism or complaints, very well done.” - Louise Victor
“I think you really did a magnificent job in your initial lectures, and in conceptualizing and setting up the event. You gave us so much excellent information and it was so well organized. You were really generous with all the effort you put into it. Thank you so much!” - Judy Feins
“The lecture where you gave specific guidelines, the deadline to meet those guidelines and your review were very useful. I also want to compliment you on the handling of the whole event, specifically letting us know what to expect both before the event and during the event – and maintaining the timing and equilibrium of it all!” - Anne LaBrie
“I enjoyed the opportunity to get feedback from them all. I found each one had a different gold nougat of advice from framing suggestions to website designs. Thank you so much for arranging this event. I feel fortunate to have attended the evening.” - Carol Golemme
"All I can say, is FABULOUS! What a great opportunity." - Janey Fritsche
