The quiet neighborhood of San MIguel de Chapultepec is tucked away between a busy traffic artery and the giant Chapultepec Park, but boasts some the best quality art galleries in the Mexico City. The area features an architectural mix of French-inspired mansions, apartment blocks, and unadorned storefronts.
If you peek your head behind some of the foreboding doors on San Miguel’s tree-lined streets, you’ll find A+ art galleries celebrating the Mexico City contemporary art scene. We will venture into many of these fine art establishments and meet gallery directors to hear about the exhibitions on view.
Between five and eight galleries with be included in this 4-hour walking tour, depending on the exhibition schedule.
San Miguel Chapultepec is very walkable, and there are plenty of small cafes, bars, sweet shops, and ice cream shops that we will pop into for delicious treats.
This tour includes a sit-down lunch with a Mexican dish of your choice and a beverage of your choice. Other dishes may be purchased by attendees at any of the local food stops that we will make during the visits to art galleries.
Whether you’re here for the art, the architecture, or just a mellow stroll through the lovely streets, San Miguel Chapultepec won’t disappoint. It’s a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood that’s sure to charm you with its unique vibe.
San Miguel’s tree-lined streets carry the names of generals and governors of Mexico, and behind many foreboding doors you will find art galleries, creative food and stately homes.
