Cárcamo de Dolores museum is the building that provided the capstone to Mexico City’s water system was designed by architect Ricardo Rivas. To top off the entire project, Diego Rivera was brought in to complete the world’s only underwater murals “Water, Source of Life” and the impressive mosaic Tlaloc Fountain.
Diego Rivera intended the considerable mural work as a tribute to the hundreds of laborers, engineers, and architects who’d worked to complete the massive waterworks project which still supplies water to the city today. His mural spans 400 feet around the pool which diverted water to four storage tanks. Tlaloc Fountain (Fuente de Tlaloc) was created in the early 1950's by Rivera with a large and intricate mosaic of the Aztec rain god Tlaloc as the centerpiece.
The museums and cultural spaces at Los Pinos provide a vibrant center for art and include the Casa Presidencial Lázaro Cárdenas Museum, Estado Mayor Presidencial Museum, historic Casa del Maíz corn museum, many special art exhibition spaces, and gorgeous gardens throughout.
The former official residence of Mexican presidents is a white mansion built in 1853 and known simply as "Los Pinos." When President López Obrador came to power in 2018, he transformed Los Pinos into a museum open to the public.
At Los Pinos you will find one of the city's most cutting-edge contemporary art galleries with temporary exhibits showcasing the works of up-and-coming talent from Mexico and abroad.

We will travel between Cárcamo de Dolores and Los Pinos using Mexico City's Cablebus Line 3 cable cars, inaugurated in September 2024 to connect the four sections of Chapultepec Park, offering stupendous panoramic views of Mexico City.
The cable car features six stations along the south side of the park and is expected to transport 12 million passengers annually, with full expansion potentially increasing that number to 36 million.
